Want to Talk to Doug?
POLAR EXPLORER TO VISIT SANTA ROSA STUDENTS
Student Journalists Wanted to Cover the Event
Student Journalists Wanted to Cover the Event
On June 1, 2008, professional polar explorer Doug Stoup will visit Santa Rosa students and give a presentation about his travels, and PNN.com is looking for teams of student journalists to cover the event.
"This is a great opportunity for students to learn about journalism, environmentalism, and technology," says Jaime Martinez, PNN.com's Senior Journalist. "And Doug is such a cool guy with great stories to tell about his expeditions. Kids get excited about learning when they are around him."
After Doug's presentation, PNN's teams of student journalists will get an exclusive interview with Doug. The audio from the interviews will be recorded and turned into a podcast for Doug's PNN page (http://iceaxe.pnn.com). Students are also encouraged to submit their stories to their school paper and other local papers.
Though this opportunity was designed for pre-teens and teenagers, students of all ages will be considered. PNN will visit the schools of selected students before the event and will give a brief lesson in journalism to help prepare the students.
This event is hosted by PNN.com (Personal News Network) and will take place June 1 at Chop's Teen Club (509 Adams Street, Santa Rosa) at 3 PM. Students, teachers, parents, and the general public are all invited to attend.
Those interested in forming a team of journalists for the event should contact Jaime Martinez. Tel 707-664-6212 Email Jaime @pnn.com
